In a devastating turn of events, India witnessed one of its deadliest aviation tragedies when Air India flight AI171, en route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed moments after takeoff on June 12, 2025. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, lifted off the runway with 242 souls on board but never gained safe altitude. Within seconds, it plummeted from the sky and crashed into a residential complex housing a doctors' hostel, leaving behind a trail of fire, smoke, and unfathomable loss.

Meanwhile, the central government has initiated a thorough investigation led by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, following international protocols. A high-level expert committee has also been formed to examine the incident and propose stronger safety mechanisms to avoid such calamities in the future.
Beyond the wreckage and the statistics, this tragedy has torn families apart. One such case is the Kamdar-Modha family from Nagpur, who were traveling to London for a funeral but became victims themselves. Their story, like so many others, paints a picture of pain that numbers cannot convey.
