The prime minister delivers speeches almost every day. But who writes these speeches? This is what the PMO had to say.
PM addresses webinar on effective implementation of Budget provisions regarding financial services.
- PM delivers inaugural address at 2nd Khelo India National Winter Games.
- PM addresses 33rd convocation of the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University.
This is how a usual day's calendar entry for Prime Minister Narendra Modi looks like.
Almost every day, he delivers speeches at one place or the other. These range from political rallies, to launching events, to addressing students, to participating in international conference on a range of issues, among others.
But who writes all these speeches for the prime minister?
To get an answer, India Today TV filed a Right to Information (RTI) application with the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
In our application, we asked about names and the number of people who are involved in preparing PM Modi's speeches for different occasions.
We also enquired about the amount that is spent in this exercise i.e. paying people for writing and preparing the speeches.
Replying to the RTI query, the Prime Minister's Office did not disclose any information on the money spent on preparing the PM's speeches.
It said while inputs are received from various sources, the prime minister gives final shape to his speeches on his own.
"Depending upon the nature of event, various individuals, officials, departments, entities, organisations etc. provide inputs for PM's speech and the speech is given final shape by the PM himself," the PMO said in its reply to the RTI query.
